Brothers and sisters in Christ,
I want to thank all of you who take the time to read this post as it is a source of joy for me to report to you all what I have seen the Lord do.
God was faithful again and always in that He provided a platform this evening for His message of hope and life to be proclaimed and received. Ken, Ed and I met at the ministry center in Oconomowoc and proceeded to drive to an apartment complex to revisit some folks that they had spoken to in the past. It was a very cool night and had rained for some time prior to going out. Upon arriving to our destination, we prayed for humility and boldness. We went inside only to find no one home to speak to. We then decided to head downtown to the lakeshore parking lot we frequent. It seemed rather quiet due in part to the cool weather but we did notice 2 younger guys "hangin out" by their truck.
Ken and I approached them while Ed stayed back and prayed. Their names were Gavin and Ryan and Gavin was on the phone so I asked him if he had a minute to speak. They seemed very friendly and Gavin hung up the phone and talked to us. I kidded with them a bit and then told them we were from a local church and wanted to just ask a few questions. They politely agreed. I asked if they believed they were good. They said they believed they were. I asked if they belonged to a church. Gavin said they attend Alliance bible church. I wanted to see how familiar they were with the gospel but it seemed that although they had a church that they were not real knowing of the things of God.
After a few diagnostic questions revealed to them that they indeed were not good, they admitted that they were in need of forgiveness for their sins and that the wages of their sin was death, eternity in hell. I asked if they knew what God did so that they would not have to go to hell. They did not know. I found this to be fascinating in light of the fact that these guys claimed to be church goers. I explained that this was the good news"gospel" of the bible and that God had provided a way for men to be saved in spite of our sin and that if they would repent and believe that God would save them and they would have their names written in the lambs book of life. This appeared to make sense to them and Ken continued to ask them questions and give them the hope that exists in Christ alone. We urged them to think about what we said and not to waste what little time they may have left. I believe God was doing a work in them and please pray for them.
We, Ed and I, then met to more young men playing basketball. I, for the life of me cannot remember their names, but I think it was David and Jack, but I am not sure. Nonetheless, we had a similar and wonderful conversation with them. They appeared to have more of a catholic background and a mish mosh understanding of what a person must do to get to heaven. Confession, Communion, Church, etc... They were also a joy to speak to and one of them upon asking what God did to save them exclaimed excitedly, "No, tell us!" I shared the gospel with them and Ed encouraged them to trust in Christ alone for their salvation. Pray for them also. God knows if I have their names wrong but I believe God was given the glory due His name and showed grace upon us to allow us to see His work in the hearts of men.
Ken, Ed and I then proceeded home and praised God for His goodness and I believe we had joy in Christ on this night.
I thank God for all who read this and pray your lives will all be transformed in Christ so you may know Him and take joy in Him!
Blessings
